what do we do in shodhyatra -learning walk

Sharing

we pursue several activities during shodhyatra

a) on the basis of prior fieldwork, we identify key challenges in agriculture, livestock, farm machinery, food, nutrition, etc., and share the i) prior knowledge we have collected from different parts of the country with local communities and ii) the knowledge collected from local communities with their name and address as feedback to them about our learning. we also share practices of non-chemical based sust agri practices and trigger discussion on a village knowledge register,
b) we scout local innovations and traditional knowledge from local region particularly the ones which help increase the quality of life, conservation of biodiversity and nature, and improve solidarity through common property institutions;
c) we identify and honour local outstanding achievers in education, technology, culture, and indigenous institutions
d) some times some innovators also join the yatra to share their journey, creativity to spur local experimentation
e) anybody who wishes to join pays for one’s cost of food and local travel so that SRISTI bears only limited organizational, literature, posters and other costs,
f) we take the blessings of the 90-100 year old grandmothers, and lessons about long life from them wherever possible,
g) we organize fun contest among women on traditional food recipes which may have at least one uncultivated plant and creative and innovative idea competition among children
h) an exhibition of posters is put up in each village where we stop for meetings, we bear the cost for lunch and dinner, generally made by the local community leaders using local ingredients,
i) we hire one vehicle to keep projector (to show videos of innovations where power is available, baggage, durries, posters etc.,) but all shodhyatris are supposed to walk except some elderly ones who may sit in the vehicle sometimes
j) random interactions with creative individuals are explored by chance when we meet people on the way
k) a report of shodhyatra along with a copy of all photos taken during yatra are shared with each village and individuals as the case may be

l) the Honey Bee Network helps knowledge holders and creative children identified during yatra to get regional and national recognition, support for value addition and enterprise development, and protection of IPRswhereverr applicable, dissemination,
