creative kids, when will we stop burdening them
there is a debnate going on educational reforms but not on how to let children be, how can they spend childhood free from the gruelling expectations of adults,
how can they play and be mischivious when they love to. should children be taking tutions even in the primary class? how do we put premium on their ability to fantasize and imagine and not just vomit what they have been taught unthinkingly?
how to let kids find new applications of available technologies and design those which dont exist?
Meghal and anamika from Honey Bee team went to Khara Ghoda with colleagues from sristi and learnd some amazing ideas of children about what shoudl be done with cell phone. For instance can we not design a a ssytem when drivers of heavy vehicles ( for that matter any vehicle) get signal in advance befopre a steep turn is likely to come ahead to avoid accidents.
There are many more ideas that children have, see the jan-march iossue of honey bee ( www.sristi.org) and w eare waiting to recognise thes ein IGnite 09 award function in dec, 2009 at the hands of Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, former President of India.
those kids have original ideas, pl send in your ideas and we are waiting for them eagerly.
