why is government not letting people protest peacefully? i wish the mandarins realize that these protests are an opportunity to being about change in the basic character of the society. It is wrong on the part of home minister to say that he has to treat it as a law and order problem, shame really, It is not a law and order problem, it is a time to do manthan, churning and ask basic questions, the questions we have avoided asking for the last six decades.
i am hearing first time youth asking for change in basic attitudes towards women, no amount parliamentary discussion can achieve this change as this protest is capable of achieving. Catharsis can be used creatively. There is an authenticity in these protests. Whole nation is grieved and sad. can we not do some thing to let young people sit together, discuss in smaller group, prepare agenda for reform and then the verma commission processes it with in a month and comes out with a report to the nation. Government should instead of throwing water at the protestors offer drinking water and some chana and gur to eat. Let these youth use their anger for constructive arguments and make an agenda for reform. Government should change the home minister. He must resign and let a more empathetic home minister take over. A minister who does not know the difference between law and order and nation changing moment must go. india deserves better.
